Government of Bihar exempts factories from the restrictions of working hours

The Sate Government of Bihar on May 09, 2020, exempts all the factories registered under the Factories Act, 1948 from the restrictions of working hours subject to certain conditions for a period of 3 months due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The conditions are as under:

(1) Number of adult workers shall be allowed or required to work in a factory for more than twelve hours in any day and seventy two hours in any week.

(2) The periods of work of adult workers in a factory each day shall be fixed that no period exceed six hours and that no worker shall work for more than six hours before he has had an interval for rest of at least 30 minutes..

(3) Over time wages will be paid as provided under section 59 of the Factories Act, 1948 which specifies provisions for extra wages for overtime.
