The Ministry of Civil Aviation on May 02, 2020 has laid down a simplified procedure for grant of conditional exemption to Government entities related to Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) under the Aircraft Rules, 1937 and Civil Aviation Requirements. The conditional exemption is limited to Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) deployed by an authorised entity for aerial surveillance, aerial photography and public announcements related to COVID-19. For other activities, permission from the Ministry is required separately as normal procedure.

The conditional exemption may be sought by the entity under the Union Government, State Government, District Administration or Government Institutions by submitting an online application at DGCA’s digital sky platform.
