Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare allows the manufacture of certain drugs subject to certain conditions

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on March 20, 2020, prohibits the use of Nicotine Sulphate in the country, however the production of Nicotine Sulphate shall be done for the purpose of export only.

Whereas, the Ministry of Agriculture had prohibited the use of certain insecticides such as Dichlorvos, Phorate and Triazophos. In fact, the formulation, sale and transport were banned as well and all the licenses were cancelled.

But, Ministry of Agriculture received representations from various pesticides associations and companies to allow manufacture of Dichlorvos, Phorate, Triazophos for export purposes only. Therefore, it has decided to permit manufacture of Dichlorvos, Phorate and Triazophos and continued manufacture of Nicotine Sulphate and Captafol 80% powder for dry seed treatment;

In addition to this, if any manufacturer wants to produce the above-mentioned drugs for the purpose of export shall submit an affidavit to the. The affidavit is to be presented on a Rupee 100 stamp paper.  The permission will be for a period of three years from the date of grant of registration and the registrants shall reapply for continuation of such permission along with details of production and export of such pesticides during the period of permission.

Every registrant to whom certificate of registration has been granted shall submit a monthly statement or return.

This notification will come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
