Ministry of Shipping issues guidelines for major ports on exemptions on penalties and issues relating to Force Majeure

The Ministry of Shipping has issued guidelines for major ports on remission on penalties and issues relating to Force Majeure due to the extension of the lockdown for a period of 21 days to prevent the spread off COVID-19.

They have given certain exceptions to the operations of seaport for the movement of cargo and inter-state transportation for the purpose of regular supply of goods in the country. Due to the lockdown, there has been delay in the movement of cargo. However, it has been noted that no fees or penalties shall be imposed in case of any delay in the cargo movement due to unforeseen circumstances of the lockdown. Under the circumstances for force majeure the implementation of the undergoing projects can be extended by the ports.
