The Forest, Environment & Ecology Department of Jammu and Kashmir has published the Jammu and Kashmir Forest Produce (Sale and Registration of Depot) Rules, 2020. The rules shall be applicable to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and shall come into effect from October 31, 2019.

These Rules mandate all the people to register their depots before operating them. The registration shall be done by the Divisional Forest Officer and shall be given a number after the registration. All those depots that are already registered shall obtain new registration within 180 days. The permit shall be considered with appropriate books and such books shall have an identifying number.

The registered depot shall pay 20,000 as security deposits and the depots shall not store any produce that is banned or not checked by transit authorities. The registered depots shall have registered sale hammer mark. The registration mark shall be valid for three years. In case the registration is cancelled, the sale hammer mark shall be surrendered to the competent authorities.
