Goa permits sale of liquor by wholesalers and retailers in sealed bottles

The Goa Commissioner of Excise on May 03, 2020, permits sale of liquor by wholesalers and retailers in sealed bottles.

Therefore, all the wholesalers and retailers are permitted to commence the activities of sale of liquor with effect from May 04, 2020, except in the prohibited areas and whose licenses have been kept under suspension. The permission has been given subject to the following conditions:

1. Social distancing norms to be followed.

2. No liqour should be sold and buy without mask or appropriate face cover.

3. Liquor licensed premises to open at their usual premises time and must close by 6.00 PM to enable the employer and employees to reach home by 7.00 PM.

4. Licensee of liquor should ensure that the consumer shall maintain minimum six feet distance from each other and also ensure that not more than five persons are present in the queue.

5. Frequent sanitization of entire premises, common facilities and all points which come into human contact i.e., doors, handles, counters etc shall be ensured.

The guidelines and relevant orders prescribed by the Ministry of Home Affairs must be strictly adhered to.

Under no circumstances any premises for consumption of liquor i.e., Bar and Taverna and those packed bottles premises specifically disallowed by the Competent Authority will operate and any violation will be strictly dealt with under the Goa Excise Duty Act and Rules, 1964.
