Haryana Labour Department relaxes working hours in Factories

The Haryana Labour Department on April 30, 2020, relaxes certain provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 by extending the working hours for optimum utilization of labour in factories.

However, all the factories registered under Factories Act, 1948 will be exempted from the provisions relating to weekly hours, daily hours etc. of adult workers under section 51 (Weekly Hours), section 54 (Daily Hours) and section 56 (Spread over), subject to the following conditions:

(i) The total number of hours of work in any day shall nor exceed twelve, subject to the conditions stipulated under section 65 (3) of the Factories Act, 1948.

(ii) This exemption will not provide any immunity from any other section or rules of this Act or any other State or Central Government legislation.

(iii) This exemption will be valid till June 30, 2020

(iv) The wages for overtime period will be paid as per section 59 of the Factories Act, 1948.

(v) The instructions issued by Government of India and Government of Haryana from time to time regarding COVID-19 including social distancing, sanitization etc. will be strictly followed.
