Ministry of Power allows construction activity carried out by PGCIL and other private inter-state transmission utilities

The Ministry of Power on April 17, 2020, notifies that the operation and maintenance of inter state transmission network on 24x7 basis will continue till May 03, 2020 and allows construction activities carried out by PGCIL and other private inter-state transmission utilities during the nation-wide lockdown for COVID-19 outbreak. The electrical power transmission is an essential service for securing smooth and uninterrupted power flow across and within states and construction of many inter-state transmission lines have been stopped due to COVID-I9 and these lines needs to be completed at the earliest for feeding power to different parts of the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the lock-down period upto May 03, 2020 to fight against COVID-19 pandemic, it is requested to continue the support till May 03, 2020 and allow laying or erection of transmission lines being carried out by PGCIL, and other private inter-state transmission utilities subject to conforming to social distancing in offices, workplaces, factories and establishment as well as other requirements as specified in the Consolidated Revised Guidelines issued by MHA.
