MoHFW issues measure to ensure safety of health workers to fight COVID-19

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on April 20, 2020, issues several measures to ensure safety of doctors and health professionals in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The followings are the measures taken under:-

Human Resource:-

 Various cadres of personnel and volunteers across sectors and departments have been identified and respective roles have also been mapped.

 An empowered group has been set up at the National level for augmenting human resource and capacity building. 

 A SoP for allocation of residents and PG students and nursing students has been a part of hospital management of COVID-19.

Medical Safety:-

 The Department of Health Research or Indian Council for Medical Research has recommended the use of hydroxy-chloroquine for infection.

 The healthcare workers are also being tested for COVID-19, who examined a confirmed case without adequate protection.

 A high level multi-disciplinary team has been deputed to assist States in Cluster containment plan and ICU & ventilator management.

Training:-

 MoHFW mandates timely payments for frontlines workers including those requisitioned from outside of government sector.

 Health professionals are being encouraged to practice stress management techniques.

 The training resources for medical and non-medical personnel on infection prevention and control, clinical management including ventilation, logistics etc. is being updated regularly. 

 The State Government and institutions are also being encouraged to conduct required training by mobilizing necessary resources.

Life Insurance Cover:-

 The insurance is free for the beneficiaries and premium has been paid by the Government for these beneficiaries.
