Government of Chhattisgarh amends rule 8 of the Chhattisgarh Foreign Liquor Rules 1996

The State Government of Chhattisgarh on March 31, 2020, amends the Chhattisgarh Foreign Liquor Rules 1996.

Rule 8 which specifies the detailed provisions regarding selling foreign liquor which includes - Categories of licences; Period of licences and their renewal; Licensing Authorities; Minimum quantity of sale for certain licensees; Procedure for application and sanction of the licences; Restriction regarding stocking and sale on certain licensees etc.

After sub-rule 5 which specifies the Procedure for application and sanction of the licences, sub-rule 5(a) has been added: A Licensee can transfer his license in the name of any person/firm/company, who is eligible for holding any Excise License after prior permission of the licensing authority. The person/firm/company to whom the license is being transferred shall have to fulfil all such formalities which is necessary to get any new license. A transfer fee equivalent to the amount of 10% of the concerned license fee shall be payable separately.

The amendment will be applicable from April 01, 2020.
