Ministry of Finance issues a circular for payment of wages to outsourced persons of Ministries and government Departments

The Ministry of Finance has announced that the wages to outsourced persons of Ministries, Departments and other organisations of Government of India during lockdown period due to COVID-19 should be paid.

In order to avoid any undue hardships under the prevailing extraordinary circumstances, it has been decided that staffs such as contractual, casual and outsourced staff like house-keeping are required to stay at home, which shall result to deduction of pay and wages. And in case of contractual, casual and outsourced staff of Ministries or Departments and other organisations of Government of India, are required to stay at home during the lockdown period. They shall be treated as “on duty” during such period of absence and necessary wages should be paid accordingly.

These instructions shall apply to all subordinate offices, autonomous and statutory bodies of Government of India till April 30, 2020.
