CBIC introduces Special Refund and Drawback Disposal Drive

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on April 09, 2020, has introduced with immediate effect a “Special Refund and Drawback Disposal Drive” with the objective of priority processing and disposal of all pending refund and drawback claims.

Whereas, CBIC has taken a number of measures to mitigate the hardship caused by the Covid-19 pandemic to the trade and industry and other stakeholders. Continuing with these trade facilitation measures, CBIC has decided that all pending Customs refund and drawback claims shall be expeditiously processed in order to provide immediate relief to the business entities, especially MSMEs.

Therefore, this Special Drive will be in place till April 30, 2020.

In this regard, the following may kindly be taken note of:

a. due diligence should be done by the authorized authorities, before granting the refunds and drawback.

b. All communication should be done over email, for facilitation of the exporters.

c. All deficiency memos may be reviewed, and refund / drawback may be considered on merit.
