Government of Bihar revises minimum rates of wages for Domestic workers

The Bihar Labour Department on March 23, 2020, has revised the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowances (VDA) for Domestic Workers which will be effective from April 01, 2020.

The following categories of employees for whom minimum rates of wages revised:

1. Washing the utensils (Per hour): 855.00 Per month

2. Washing the clothes or washing the utensil (Per hour): 855.00Per month

3. Washing the clothes or washing the utensil house keeping (A. House of 1000 Sq. ft.) (Per hour): 855.00 Per month

4. Washing the clothes or washing the utensils house keeping and looking after the children (Wight hours): 6830.00 Per month

5. Washing the clothes or washing the utensils house keeping and looking after the children / and taking to school and back other miscellaneous domestic works (Eight hours): 6830.00 Per month.

These rates of VDA will be based on the average of All India Consumer Price Index on which the minimum rates of wages have been fixed or revised in the above scheduled employment. The payment of VDA from April, 2020, will be made on the basis of rates mentioned in average index of July-December, 2019.
