Kerala Tax Department publishes the Kerala Foreign Liquor (Registration of Brand) (Amendment) Rules, 2020

The Kerala Tax Department on March 20, 2020, has published the Kerala Foreign Liquor (Registration of Brand) (Amendment) Rules, 2020 to further amend the Kerala Foreign Liquor (Registration of Brand) Rules, 1995.

The following amendments in Rule 3 which specifies the fee for the registration of brand of foreign liquor, namely:

1. the amendment enhanced the fee for the registration of brand of foreign liquor to Rs. 75,000 (Rupees Seventy-Five thousand only) and Rs. 3,00,000 (Rupees Three lakhs only) instead of Rs. 50,000 (Rupees Fifty thousand only) and Rs. 2,00,000 (Rupees Two lakhs only) for local brands and tie-up arrangements from other States respectively.

2. Proviso has been inserted, in which it is decided to continue the fee for the registration of brand using glass bottles owned by the distilleries within the State and Outside the State as Rs. 50,000 (Rupees Fifty thousand only) and Rs. 2,00,000 (Rupees Two lakhs only) respectively. The proviso has been added in order to promote the use of glass bottles. 

They shall come into force on April 01, 2020.
