DGFT directs authorised agencies to issue Certificates of Origin retrospectively

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on March 28, 2020 directs authorised Indian agencies to issue Certificates of Origin retrospectively.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic there is lockdown in India which hinders the authorised Indian agencies from issuing certificates of origin under various agreements, as their offices are temporarily closed.

Therefore, DGFT directs all concerned Indian agencies to issues certificates of origin retrospectively after they open their offices. Further, it is requested to the customs authorities and other competent authorities to allow in the interim period, the eligible imports under preferences on a retrospective basis subject to the subsequent production of the certificates of origin by the Indian exporters.
