Government of Gujarat issues advisory regarding labour payment to unorganized sector

The Gujarat Labour and Employment Department on March 22, 2020, issues advisory regarding labour payment to unorganized sector to prevent spread of Corona Virus.

Therefore, it is advised to citizen that the workers in municipal corporation, municipality and urban area working in unorganized sector such as housework, working as home cook, cleaning house, working housekeeper etc. shall be allow paid voluntary leave till March 31, 2020. In addition, the laborers working in the Servant Quarter may be employed but be careful not to leave the quarters until they sanitize themselves and do not come into contact with another person to prevent the spread of this epidemic.

Identify if a worker is infected with corona virus or suspected of being affected or if absent for other reasons related to the pandemic, then they are considered to be present on the job and there will be no deduction from their salary. Thus, by providing financial and moral support to the laborers working in the unorganized sector in the state, the citizens should be committed to the social responsibility of assisting the workers and their families in times of crisis.
