The Government of Tamil Nadu on March 18, 2020, has published the Amendments to the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments (Conferment of Permanent Status to workmen) Rules, 1981.

The amendments are as under:

Under Rule 6(1) which specifies the procedure for maintenance of registers by employers, the proviso has been added, namely:

Every employer of an industrial establishment shall maintain a register of workmen in Form 1 and shall produce the register whenever it is required by the Inspector having jurisdiction over the industrial establishment:

Provided that no separate register in Form 1 need be maintained if the particulars required to be maintained therein are contained in any other records maintained by the employer under any other labour Law.
