Government of Tamil Nadu issues the Draft Amendment in the Maternity benefit Rules, 1967

The State Government of Tamil Nadu on March 18, 2020 issues the Draft Amendments to the Maternity benefit Rules, 1967.

The amendments are as under:

Under Rule 3(1) which specifies the procedure for maintaining the Muster Roll, proviso has been added, namely:

The employer of every establishment in which Women are employed shall prepare and maintain a muster roll in Form ‘A’ and shall enter therein particulars of all women workers from whom notices of confinement have been received:

Provided that no separate muster roll in Form A need be maintained if the particulars required to be maintained therein are contained in any other records maintained by the employer under any other labour law.

The draft amendment will be taken into consideration on or after the date of expiry of three months from the date of publication of this notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette (March 18, 2020).  Objection or Suggestion, if any, should be addressed in duplicate to the Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department, Fort St. George, chennai-600 009 through the commissioner of Labour, chennai-600 006.
