AICTE issues Circular for all the institutions regarding the Novel Coronavirus

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on March 13, 2020, has issued advisory for Institutional and Colleges to prevent spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

All the institutions are requested to follow the steps for prevention of COVID-19 mentioned below:- 

• Avoid large gatherings on campus.

• Any student or staff with travel background to or in touch with any COVID-19 affected country in the last 28 days should be monitored and quarantined at home for 14 days.

• The faculty should be alert and should immediately have the student tested in case of signs and symptoms including fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.

• Till advised by the treating doctor the student or faculty should not join the institute.

• Faculty and students should also be advised about simple public health measures of hand hygiene (i.e. wash hands with soap & water regularly and thoroughly or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer even when the hands are clearly clean) and respiratory hygiene (i.e. everyone should cover their mouth with a tissue or handkerchief and do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth also everyone should throw away used tissues in a bin)

• Clean regularly touched surfaces-door knobs, doors, desktops, hand railings etc.

• Provide alcohol based hand cleaners or sanitizers in frequent places at the institute.

• Ensure availability of soap and water in rest rooms. 

• Foot operated pedal bins lined with plastic bag should be provided in each classroom and rest room.

• In hostels, health status of students as well as other ancillary staff should be monitored regularly. In case of suspected cases, the authorized local medical authority should be called for examination.

• Anyone with signs and symptoms should call State or UT helpline number or the 24x7 helpline of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) at 011-23978046 or visit the public health facility with a covered mask or mouth.
