FSSAI introduces RUCO sticker to Food Business Operators

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on February 25, 2020, has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and checklist for issuance of Repurpose Used Cooking Oil (RUCO) sticker to Food Business Operators (FBOs). FSSAI vide its Order dated January 30, 2019 had directed FBOs whose consumption of edible oils for frying is more 50 litres per day would maintain the usage records and would dispose Used Cooking Oil (UCO) to agencies authorised by the FSSAI.

With reference to that, the Authority has launched RUCO sticker and developed a SOP and checklist (Annexure II, Page 5) for the issue of sticker to FBOs and Food Service Establishments who are RUCO complaint. The sticker would be awarded to FBOs by respective Food Safety Departments of State or UTs by verifying the requirements provided by FSSAI. This sticker shall be displayed by FBOs outside their restaurants and food service establishments to create consumer awareness and generate demand.

All the Food Safety Commissioners of all States and Union Territories are requested to issue RUCO sticker as per procedure and requirements.
