The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on February 21, 2020, notifies the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Amendment Regulations, 2020 to further amend the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.

The followings are the amendments made under the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018:-

Ø  Regulation 8(9) related to “Renewal of licence to use or apply a Standard Mark” stands substituted, namely:

“If discrepancies, which led to the suspension of the licence are not removed during the period of deferment, the licence may be expired after the date of its validity.”

Ø  Amendments are also made in Schedule-II, in Scheme I and III.

Ø  Under Schedule – II, a Scheme VIII related to “Conformity assessment scheme for Grant of licence or certificate of conformity for process as per Standards” has been newly inserted.

These Notification shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
