The Government of Tamil Nadu on February 15, 2020 publishes the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Marketing (Regulation) Amendment Act, 2020 to further amend the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987.

The amendments are as under:

Ø  Section 33(1) which specifies the special provision where there is delay in reconstitution of new market committee, proviso has been substituted, namely:

Provided that the period specified in such order may, for special reasons to be recorded in writing by the Government, be extended from time to time but such order, shall not remain in force for more than nine years in the aggregate.

Ø  The Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Third Amendment Ordinance, 2019 is hereby repealed. Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done, or any action taken under the Tamil Nadu Agricultural Produce Marketing (Regulation) Act, 1987, as amended by the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the said Act, as amended by this Act.

It shall be deemed to have come into force on November 27, 2019.
