The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on February 12, 2020, requested all the Solar PV manufacturers and Solar PV Manufacturer Associations to provide a list of machinery or capital goods required for inclusion in Basic Custom Duty (BCD) exemption list. The Ministry of Finance vide its Notification dated June 30, 2017 announced exemptions from payment of BCD to goods required for manufacturing of goods falling under Tariff Head 8541. The Ministry of Finance has suggested MNRE for finalizing a list of such machinery or capital goods which are required for setting up of manufacturing units for manufacturing of solar PV modules, cells, wafers, ingots and polysilicon, so that they can be considered for inclusion in LIST-19 of Notification No. 50/2017 Customs dated June 30, 2017.

Thus, the solar PV manufacturers and associations are requested to provide a list of machinery or capital goods whichever they want to be included in BCD exemption list (List 19) to MNRE by February 20, 2020.
