The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on February 04, 2020, issues the All India Council for Technical Education (Grant of Approvals for the Technical Institutions) Regulations, 2020 to regulate or facilitate in an organized manner, the Technical Institutions in maintaining quality and to follow the norms consistent with the ideals of AICTE and further to create an enabling environment for the Technical Institutions to become high quality Institutions.

These Regulations are applicable for the applications submitted by the institutions or institutions deemed to be university offering or propose to offer a technical programme at Diploma or Post Diploma Certificate or Under Graduate Degree or Post Graduate Diploma or Post Graduate Degree Level for setting up a new technical institution, start a new programme, diploma or degree in the existing institutions, merger of institutions, extension of approval based on self disclosure, closure of institutions etc.

After commencement of these Regulations,

  • new technical institutions either by Government or Government aided or self-financing institutions shall be started ONLY after obtaining approval of the Council.
  • The existing Government, Government aided, self-financing institutions, institutions deemed to be universities shall introduce new programme or courses at any level in regular mode ONLY after obtaining approval of the Council.
  • Affiliating University or Board shall not enroll students admitted in such technical institutions, which do not have requisite prior approval of the Council.
  • Technical Institution without prior approval of AICTE and Affiliating University or Board concerned, shall not be allowed to participate in the counselling and admission process to admit students.
  • Affiliating University or Board shall not enroll students admitted in such technical institutions, without prior approval of the Council.
  • Existing standalone institutions or institutions deemed to be universities shall either conduct or increase or reduce the intake in the Open and Distance Learning Courses or introduce courses at any level ONLY after obtaining approval of the Council.

 

 

 

 

 

 

These Regulations are made in supersession of the AICTE (Grant of Approvals for the Technical Institutions) Regulations, 2018 and shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette that is February 05, 2020.
