MoLE declares manufacturing of Alumina to be public utility services with effect from January 24, 2020

The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) on January 24, 2020, has declared that the services of the industries engaged in manufacturing of alumina and aluminium and mining of bauxite, which is covered under Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, to be a public utility service. MoLE had lastly declared the said industry to be a public utility service for a period of six months vide Notification No. S.O. 2621 (E), dated July 24, 2019.

The MoLE has now decided to further extend the period of service for another six months with effect from January 24, 2020 for public interest, as a public utility service status to the said industry.
