Government of West Bengal fixes the minimum rates of wages in the employment of refractory industry

The State Government of West Bengal on December 27, 2019, has fixed the minimum rates of wages in the employment of refractory industry. These rates will be effective for the period from January 01, 2020 to June 30, 2020.

Categories of Employees

Monthly Minimum Rates of Wages (Rs.)

Unskilled / Others ‘A’

7,079.00  (Daily 272.00)

 

Semi-skilled

7,139.00  (Daily 275.00)

Skilled / Others ‘B’

7,199.00  (Daily 277.00)

Highly Skilled / Others ‘C’

7,259.00  (Daily 279.00)

The classification of employees is as follows:

(i)Unskilled workers: General Mazdoor/Cooli/Kamin, Loader, Unloader, Porter, Asstt. Gardener, Tarman, Stageman, Canteen boy, Car-cleaner.

(ii)Semi-skilled workers: Crushed mazdoor, line mazdoor, Grinder, Trollyman, Stampar, Checker, Setter, Semi-skilled mason, Boilerman, Carpenter, Mixing Attendant, Pump Khalashi.

(iii)Skilled workers: Turner, fitter, Electrician, Moulder, Fireman, Latheman, Pipe-plant polisher, Klin setter, Trindal Press Operator, Mixingman-cum-operator, Welder, Gas Cutter, Blacksmith, Pattern Maker, Mill Attendant, Packerman.

(iv)Highly Skilled workers: Head mason, Head carpenter, Head fitter, Trindal, Shift Moulder, Head Welder, Head Turner, Moulder, Supervisor, Mechanical Fitter.

(v)Others ‘A’: Peon, Durwan, Security Guard

(vi)Others ‘B’: Junior clerk, typist, compounder, nurse, driver, stock-keeper, laboratory Asstt.

(vii)Others ‘C’: Senior clerk, Head Clerk, Accountant, Supervisor, Security officer, foreman, chemist

The monthly rates may be divided by 26 and rounded off to the nearest paise to arrive at daily rates of wages. The wages of full-time piece-rated workers shall in no case be less than the daily rates of minimum wages.
