The University Grants Commission (UGC) on January 07, 2020, issues a letter prohibiting the use of electronic cigarettes in Higher Educational Institution (HEIs) through promulgation of the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Ordinance, 2019. The consumption of e-cigarette adversely effects on cardiovascular and respiratory system, also negatively affects the part of the brain of an average adolescent. It contains other harmful and additive effects arising out of used chemicals or solvents in e-cigarettes which are covered by blending it with attractiveness through sleek design and promotional advertisements. Such offensive products attract children and adolescents because of these attractive advertisements.

Therefore, UGC has requested all the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes in their campus and make the students aware of the bad effects of e-cigarettes and the harm that nicotine in any form can do to their growing brain.
