Industry Specific Compliance

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on January 01, 2020, extends the timeline for compliance of labelling provisions for the frozen desserts or confections products with added vegetable oil or fat or vegetable protein till the final decision of FSSAI under the FSS (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Thirteenth Amendment Regulations, 2017. The timeline for the compliance was January 01, 2020 due to the issue of nomenclature of ice cream under these regulations. But as the issue of nomenclature is still under review in FSSAI, representations are received from a section of stakeholders for further extension of timeline.

Thus, it has been decided to further extend the timeline for compliance of the labeling requirements for frozen desserts or confections products with added vegetable oil or fat or vegetable protein till the final decision of FSSAI on the nomenclature of frozen dessert. The Food Business Operators (FBOs) are required to comply with all other standards and labeling provisions.
