Ministry of Labour and Employment issues draft Employees' State Insurance (Central) Amendment Rules, 2019

The Ministry of Labour and Employment on December 24, 2019, issues the draft Employees' State Insurance (Central) Amendment Rules, 2019 to further amend the Employees' State Insurance (Central) Rules, 1950. Under the amendment, Rule 51B which specifies the rates of employer's and employee's contribution for the initial 24 months, that is:

a) Employer's contribution – A sum (rounded to the next higher rupee) equal to three percent of the wages payable to an employee; and

b) Employee's contribution – A sum (rounded to next higher rupee) equal to one percent of the wages payable to an employee.

has been omitted.

Any person likely to be affected thereby by the draft, are requested for objections or suggestions, if any, within 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification published in the Gazette of India, are made available to the public. The objections and suggestions to these draft rules, if any, may be sent to Shri Madan Chaurasia, Under Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi-110001.
