Ministry of Road Transport and Highways invites suggestions on Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2019

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on December 12, 2019, issues the Draft Central Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2019 to further amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The amendments are made in Rule 115 related to “Emission of smoke, vapour, etc. from motor vehicles” of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, a new sub-rule 115(22) has been inserted, namely, the Emission Standards Bharat Stage VI (BS-VI) for Quadricycle (Category L7), vehicles manufactured on or after April 01, 2020 for all models:-

1. Vehicles fitted with Positive Ignition (PI) engine

2. Vehicles fitted with Compression Ignition (CI) engine

3. Application of Test Requirements for Type-Approval: BS-VI

4. BS-VI: OBD I monitoring items

5. BS-VI: OBD Stage II-A: Emission Thresholds

6. BS-VI: OBD Stage II-B: Emission Thresholds

7. OBD II Monitoring Items

Any person likely to be affected thereby by the draft, are requested for objections or suggestions, if any, within 30 days from the date on which the copies of this notification published in the Gazette of India, are made available to the public.
