The State Government of Tamil Nadu on October 09, 2019, has issued the ‘Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy, 2019’ which provides for various concessions to manufacturers of e-vehicles. 

The main objectives of Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy, 2019 are:

•     To promote electric mobility and to build a comprehensive EV ecosystem,

•    To create a robust infrastructure for electric vehicles, including adequate power supply and network of charging points with favorable power tariff,

•  To make the state as a preferred destination for Electric Vehicles and component manufacturing units, including battery and EV charging infrastructure,

•     To create a conducive environment for the EV industry and research institutions to focus on cutting-edge research in Electric Mobility technologies and reap the benefit from the outcome, and

•      To recycle and reuse used batteries and dispose of the rejected batteries in an environment-friendly manner to avoid pollution.
