UIDAI issues guidelines on use of Aadhar by State Governments under the Aadhar Act

The Unique Identification Authority of India on November 25, 2019, has issued guidelines on use of Aadhar under section 7 of Aadhar Act by the State Government for the schemes funded out of the Consolidated Fund of State.

Section 7 of the Aadhaar Act pertains to targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and services funded from the Consolidated Fund of India or Consolidated Fund of State. Vide the provision of Aadhar and other laws (amendment) Act, 2019, the Government of India has mandated use of Aadhar authentication for beneficiaries funded out of Consolidated Fund of State. 

Therefore, following steps are issued to the State Government to undertake schemes under Section 7 of Aadhar Act: -

•  Identify the schemes and ensure that it fulfils the criteria under section 7 of Aadhar Act;

•  Draft a notification for that scheme;

•  Use the standard template of section 7 of Aadhar Act which is provided under Annexure-1 (Page 4);

• Lastly after the publication of section 7 notification in State gazette, the State Government shall seek permission for online authentication of beneficiaries.
