TRAI revises the date of implementation of Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (Seventh Amendment) Regulations 2018

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on December 03, 2019, has revised the date of implementation of Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (MNP) (Seventh Amendment) Regulations, 2018. TRAI had issued Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (Seventh Amendment) Regulations, 2018 on December 13, 2018. The revised MNP process shall come into effect from December 16, 2019.

The amendment regulations have provided mechanism for generating Unique Porting Code (UPC). It ensures smooth porting and convenience to the mobile subscribers. Whereas due to migration of existing process into new MNP process by telecom service providers and MNPSPs, the facility of MNP shall not be available for the mobile subscribers during December 10, 2019 to December 15, 2019.  The subscriber can apply for fresh generation of UPC after migration to the revised MNP process from December 16, 2019.
