The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on November 28, 2019, has issued the Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs (Third Amendment) Order, 2019 to further amend the Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions on Specified Foodstuffs Order, 2016.

Under Clause 3(2)(iv) which specifies on certain foodstuff there is removal of Licensing Requirements, Stock Limits and Movement Restrictions, for the figures, letters and word “30th November, 2019” has been substituted by “till further orders”, namely:

"Onion, for a period till further orders, with following stock limits on traders for all the States and Union Territories;

Wholesaler: 50 MT and Retailer: 10MT"

It will come into force with immediate effect.
