The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on November 21, 2019, has implemented the scheme “Programme on Energy from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Wastes or Residues” for promoting the setting up of waste-to-energy plants to recover energy in the form of Biogas or BioCNG or Power from Urban, Industrial and Agricultural Waste or Residues for meeting certain energy demands of urban, industrial and commercial sectors in the country. 

The State and UT-wise details of installed waste-to-energy plants in the country are given in Annexure-I, Annexure-II and Annexure-III.
