The University Grants Commission (UGC) on November 08, 2019, advises all the educational institutions to make strong measures in order to eliminate the menace of ragging. UGC had framed Regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009 mandatory for all the universities and colleges. Ragging is a crime which involves abuse, humiliation or harassment of new entrants or junior students by the senior students.

But, it has been noticed that those measures are yet to complete the menace of ragging which is adversely affecting the higher education system of the country. The Commission has made it mandatory for all institutions to incorporate the directions of the Government regarding prohibition and consequences of ragging. Thus, it is hereby requested to take strong measures to implement the Anti Ragging Regulations in every states and take stringent action against those flouting the guidelines and become a Ragging Free State as earliest as possible.
