Government of Goa exempts all the Information Technology Units from the Section 28 of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970

The State Government of Goa on November 07, 2019, has exempted the Integrated Information Technology Township, Information Technology Parks, Information Technology (IT) Companies, Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS), Startup, Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC), Industry 4.0., which are registered with the Government of India under the Start-Up India programme and registered with the Start-Up Promotion Cell and IT Policy of the Department of Information and Technology, Government of Goa, from the provisions of section 28(2), (3) and (4) of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, which specifies the powers of the inspecting staff, for a period of 5 years, from the date of publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette (November 07, 2019).

The exemption will be subject to certain conditions, namely:

(1)    Inspection shall be carried out of the establishment on a specific written or oral complaint

(2)    The employees shall be provided with all welfare measures

(3)    The units exempted shall file Self Certificate of compliance of the provisions of the Act
