Government of Goa exempts all the employees working in the Information Technology units from section 19 of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948

The State Government of Goa on November 07, 2019, has exempted all employees employed in the Integrated Information Technology Township, Information Technology Parks, Information Technology (IT) Companies, Information Technology Enabled Services (ITeS), Startup, Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) Industry 4.0. which are registered with Government of India under the Start-Up India programme and registered with the Start-Up Promotion Cell and IT Policy of the Department of Information and Technology, Government of Goa, from the provisions of section 19 (2) and (4) of the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, which specifies the appointment of inspectors for this Act, for a period of 5 years, from the date of publication of the Notification in the Official Gazette (November 07, 2019).

The exemption will be subject to certain conditions, namely:

(1)    Inspection shall be carried out of the establishment on a specific written or oral complaint

(2)    The employees shall be provided with all welfare measures

(3)    The units exempted shall file Self Certificate of compliance of the provisions of the Act

This Notification will come into force with immediate effect.
