Draft Tripura Shops and Establishments (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2019

The State Government of Tripura on October 19, 2019, has published the Draft Tripura Shops and Establishments (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2019 to further amend the Tripura Shops and Establishment Rules, 1970.

The amendments in the Tripura Shops and Establishment Rules, 1970 are as under:

Ø  Under Rule 43 which specifies the penalty for contravention of these Rules, the words ‘one hundred rupees’ and ‘twenty-five rupees’ has been substituted with the words ‘two hundred rupees’ and ‘fifty rupees’ respectively.

Ø  Insertion of new Rule 50-Providing of dustbins: Every shop and establishment shall keep and maintain adequate number of dustbin(s) at conspicuous places to ensure hygiene and sanitation is maintained in and around the premises.

They will come into force from the date of their publication in the official Gazette.  

Therefore, State Government of Tripura invites objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby with a period of thirty days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Tripura Gazette (October 12, 2019). Further, the objections and suggestions may be sent to the office of the Special Secretary, Government of Tripura, Labour Department, Civil Secretariat Complex, Kunjaban, Agartala- 799010 ([email protected]).
