FSSAI vide Notification dated March 29, 2019 regarding implementation of FSS (Alcoholic Beverages Standards) Regulations, 2018 for the unused old label and printed cans and standards for Indian Brandy, had received various representations from various stakeholders about difficulties with respect to labeling of Indian Brandy (made from molasses spirit), as brandy is made from sources other than molasses. It was also requested to extend the time and to reduce the financial burden as various stakeholders have registered the brand with excise for a period of twelve months that is upto March 31, 2020, by paying huge amount as registration fee.
