Government of Bihar revises the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance for the 12 Employment

The State Government of Bihar has revised the minimum rate of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for the 12 Employment under the provisions of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

Following are the categories:

•Stone Breaking and Stone Crushing Operation, Bidi Making Manufacturing, Brick                           Manufactor, Hair Cutting Saloon, Loading and Unloading, Forestry and Timbering                         Operation, Silk Industries including Manufacturing from pure Silk Artificial Silk and other             staple Yarn, Earth Cutting Operation, Tea Plantation, Lac Manufactory, Power Loom                     Industry, Plucking  and Processing of Kendu Leaves.

The rates of Variable Dearness Allowance will be based on the average of All India Consumer Price Index. In case the Index falls below the point on which minimum rates of wages have been fixed / revised there will not be any reduction in the minimum wages fixed/revised. The payment of Variable Dearness Allowance on the basis of average index of January-June 2019 will be payable at from October, 2019 and thereafter increase or decrease in the amount of variable Dearness Allowance will be based on the average of All India Consumer Price Index number for every six months and will be applicable after the expiry of three months after said period of six months.
