Draft Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Third Order, 2019

The Ministry of Steel has published the Draft Steel and Steel Products (Quality Control) Third Order, 2019. It will come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

It will apply to steel and steel products specified in the Table 1 (Page 1) except steel and steel products for export which conform to any other specification required by a foreign buyer.

Ø  Conformity to standards and essential requirements: Every steel and steel product shall conform to the corresponding Indian standards with effect from there dates.

Ø  Compulsory use of Standard Mark: Every steel and steel products shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from the Bureau as per Scheme–I of Schedule–II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations 2018.

Ø  Certification and enforcement authority: The Bureau will be the certifying and enforcing authority in respect of the steel and steel products specified in this order.

Ø  Penalty for contravention. - Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

Ø  Date of effect of amendment or revision in Indian Standards: This order will apply to any amendment or revision made by the Bureau to any of the Indian Standards specified in Table 1 with effect from the date notified by the Bureau in this behalf.
