Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (Eighth Amendment) Regulations, 2019

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on September 30, 2019, releases the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability (Eighth Amendment) Regulations, 2019 to further amend the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009. 

The amendments made in the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009 are:

 In Regulation 2(n) which denies “Per Port Transaction charge” means the charge payable by the Recipient Operator to the Mobile Number Portability Service provider for processing the porting request in respect of a mobile number.

 In Regulation 8(7) and (8) related to “Action by Recipient Operator” are substituted, namely:-

Regulation 8(7): The Recipient Operator shall be liable to pay Per Port Transaction charge for each porting request of the mobile number to the Mobile Number Portability Service provider as notified by the Authority from time to time.

Regulation 8(8): The Recipient Operator shall be liable to comply with the Quality of Service parameters, as specified by the Authority from time to time.

These Regulations will come into force from November 11, 2019.
