The State Government of Tamil Nadu has revised the minimum rate of wages for the employment in Food Processing Industryunder the provisions of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

The Schedule: Employment in Food Processing Industry

1.COMMON CATEGORIES:

Manager, Chemist, Supervisor/Accountant/Cashier, Clerk/Collection Clerk/Typist/Sales Incharge/Storekeeper, Booking/Delivery Clerk, Sales Assistant/Bill Clerk, Driver, Office Boy/Delivery Boy, Security Guard/Watchman/Sweeper/Scavenger.

2.SPECIAL CATEGORIES:

Pickles and Masala Powder Manufacture, Fruit Jam and Pulp Manufacture, Ice Cream Manufacture, Vermicelli Manufacture, Coconut Products Manufacture, Groundnut Cakes Manufacture, Milk Gova Manufacture, Sweets and Snacks Manufacture.

In addition to the minimum rates of basic wages, the employees will be paid dearness                  allowance.

Where the same work or work of a similar nature is performed, no distinction in the                    payment of wages shall be made as between men and women employees.

Daily wages shall be multiplied by 30.

Wherever the existing wages are higher than the minimum wages fixed herein, the same            shall be continued to be paid.

The Notification shall come into force with effect on and from the date of its publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
