The State Government of Tamil Nadu has revised the minimum rate of wages for the employment in any oil millunder the provisions of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

The Schedule: Employment in any oil mill


Clerk, Time Keeper, Cashier, Typists, Peon, Office Boy, Watchman.


Electrician, Engine Driver/Operator, Expeller Maistry/Supervisor, Blacksmith/Carpenter, Fitter/Mechanic, Boiler Man, Rotary Man, Pint Man, Tinker, Refinery Operator, Solvent Extraction Plant Operator.


Sweeper, Cake Carrier, Mazdoor, Decorticator, Winnower, Expeller Attender, Oil Packer, Boiler Attender. 

In addition to the minimum rates of basic wages, the employees will be paid dearness                  allowance.

Where the same work or work of a similar nature is performed, no distinction in the                    payment of wages shall be made as between men and women employees.

Daily wages shall be multiplied by 30. 

Wherever the existing wages are higher than the minimum wages fixed herein, the same            shall be continued to be paid.

The Notification shall come into force with effect on and from the date of its publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
