The State Government of Tamil Nadu has revised the minimum rate of wages for the employment in Handloom Silk Weaving Industryunder the provisions of Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

The Schedule: Employment in Handloom Silk Weaving Industry

1.KANCHEEPURAM VARIETIES:

Pettu Wages, Petni, Punaippu, Beet Details, Butta Designs, Kurugiya- Kattam, Mundhi Details.

2.ARANI VARIETIES: 

Plain Varieties, Dobby Kattam, Korvai One Side, Korvai Double Side.

3.KUMBAKONAM VARIETIES:

Double Side, One Side, To Weave Body Pettu, Thundu Butta, PavuKayiru, Butta On The Border, Mundhi Self, One Side Thazhamboo Variety, Double Side Thazhamboo Variety, Body Butta Varieties, Varieties With Butta Design Above Border, Miscellaneous, Other Varieties, Dhavni.

4.THANJAVUR VARIETIES:

5.SALEM VARIETIES:

Dhotties

6.TIRUCHENGODE VARIETIES:

Jargai Pettu Wages, Silk Pettu Wages, Butta Wages.

7.ERODE VARIETIES

8.TRICHY VARIETIES

In addition to the minimum rates of basic wages, the employees will be paid dearness                  allowance.

Where the same work or work of a similar nature is performed, no distinction in the                    payment of wages shall be made as between men and women employees.

Wherever the existing wages are higher than the minimum wages fixed herein, the same            shall be continued to be paid.

The Notification shall come into force with effect on and from the date of its publication in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette.
