FSSAI issues direction regarding the operationalisation of FSS (Food products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2019

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on September 04, 2019, issues direction regarding the operationalisation of Food Safety and Standards (Food products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2019. FSSAI had framed a Draft FSS (Food products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2019 related to revision of limits in the standards of the coconut oil. FSSAI has notified that the draft regulations are in the process of being notified and the process of draft notification, consideration of comments received from stakeholders and the finalization of these Regulations are likely to take some time.

FSSAI with the approval of the competent authority has requested all the Food Business Operators (FBOs) to comply with the present standard of coconut oil and to harmonize with the International Standards-Codex with immediate effect.
