The State Government of Tripura on September 07, 2019, has migrated the Beneficiaries under Asanghatita Sramik Sahayika Prakalpa (ASSP) to Pradhanmantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM).

The State Government of Tripura had implemented a Scheme called ASSP since 2003. Under this Scheme a fixed contribution of Rs. 50/- is made by the Government of Tripura against the subscription of similar amount by a beneficiary on monthly basis. There is nor provision of pension under the Scheme.

But in February, 2019 the Government of India has launched the PMSYM which allows enrolment of workers belonging to the unorganised sector in the age group of 18-40 years. After attaining the age of 60 years, the beneficiaries are eligible to get minimum assured monthly pension of Rs. 3000/- for their lifetime, of 50% of the amount as family pension.

Therefore, in view of the obvious advantage to unorganized workers under PMSYM, the State Government of Tripura has decided as follows:

(i)                No new beneficiaries will be added under the ASSP Scheme

(ii)              All existing beneficiaries under the ASSP Scheme who are less than 40 years of age would be requested to shift to PMSYM. No further contribution would be collected from them under ASSP Scheme now onwards and their accounts settled and paid.

(iii)             The beneficiaries above 40 years would continue in the ASSP Scheme as per extant scheme guidelines.
