The draft Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on sales) Amendment Regulations, 2019

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on August 28, 2019, have published a draft Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restriction on sales) Amendment Regulations, 2019 to further amend the FSS (Prohibition and Restriction on sales) Regulations, 2011.

The amendments made in the FSS (Prohibition and Restriction on sales) Regulations, 2011 are:

 In Regulation 2.3.14, a new clause 21 shall be inserted namely: - 

“Food Products in which edible oils and fats are used as an ingredient shall not contain trans fatty acids more than 2 percent by weight of the total oils or fats present in the product, on and from January 01, 2022.”

All the persons likely to be affected thereby are requested for objections or suggestions within thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Official Gazette in which this notification is published are made available to the public. The objections or suggestions, if any, may be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Food and Drug Administration Bhawan, Kotla Road, New Dlehi-110002, or may be sent at [email protected]
