Government of Karnataka revises the minimum rates of wages and VDA for the employment in hotels

The State Government of Karnataka has revised the minimum rates of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for the employment in hotels or residential hotels, restaurants, motels, lodges, eateries, canteens, dhabas, outdoor food making and catering and in allied establishments with effect from April 01 to March 03, 2020.

The minimum rates of wages have been revised for certain class of employment:

1. Cook, Sweet maker, Supervisor, Kitchen Supervisor, Barman, Electrician, Assistant Cook, Dosa maker, Chapathi maker, Idli maker, Room boy, Assistant, Coffee maker, Tea maker server, Supplier, Waiter, Bearer, Butler, Grinder, Vegetable cutter, Mutton cutter, Parcel Boy, Water carriers, Gardeners, Dhobi, lift attender, Cleaner, Peon, Sweeper, Office boy, Office Assistant, doing a job similar to the categories mentioned above; Any other categories of unskilled employment not specified above.

2. Lorry / Car / Jeep Driver and Cleaner

3. Office staff and Drivers:

 Manager / Personal officer

 Assistant Manager / Assistant Personal Manager

 Accountant

 Cashier, Senior clerk

 Stenographer, computer operator

 Storekeeper, telephone operator

 Typist or data entry

 Clerk, junior clerk

 Watchman, security guard

Office boy / Attender / Sweeper

In addition to the basic wages, all category of employees in the state will be paid V.D.A at the rate of 4 paisa per point over and above 6205 points. Food deduction at 15% may be made from the wages of the worker on the least wages prescribed to that zone, if food is supplied to the worker on duty with free of cost.
